I moved to nyc!

hey beaut,

I hope you all are having an amazing start to the new year and are working on accomplishing all the goals you have set for yourself for this next period of life. Speaking of achieving goals, I have a quick life update for all of you and I am so excited to share this journey! About a week ago, I moved to the Upper East side of Manhattan, New York! With the University of Missouri, I am participating in a study away program for the spring semester. This consists of weekly seminars and the completion of a local internship. I am so excited to announce that I have accepted a position at the Wall Street Journal, as their Freelance Fashion Assistant in the fashion magazine department [even typing this out is so surreal for me…AHH!] In addition, I’ll be working as a blogging/social media intern for BUCI NYC, an up and coming sustainable fashion company located in Soho that I am so passionate about. If you have not already checked them out, I will link their site here so you can!

Moving to New York has been so wild for me. Ever since I was little, I have always dreamed about being young and living in the city with so many other individuals on the same journey in life. Now, I am literally writing this as I sit in my apartment looking out at the beautiful view. Obviously, it hasn’t all been perfect. I miss my friends and family and navigating the city has been a challenge… but I wouldn’t change it for the world because I know this experience is going to be life changing. There is something so freeing about finally focusing on what you want to do with your life and pursing it. I’ve always loved the quote about dreams and if they aren’t absolutely scaring you, then you need to dream bigger. It has always given me comfort in the fact that I want to achieve big things in my life and it’s okay to be scared about them. The truth is, if I wasn’t scared there would most likely be a problem. On the other hand, almost everything in life is temporary and you have the power to change the course of your life at any given moment. That being said, I think it is so important to make the most of every second you get in this life and never to take it for granted. Treasure it <3.

My apartment is an adorable little hole in the wall, and I’ve finally been able to make it feel like my own. My place is just walking distance from Central Park and located in the cutest neighborhood by the name of Yorkville. From pizza shops to fresh markets and creperies, the block is filled with all kinds of fun places to eat. Stay tuned for a post about my favorites just right around the corner :)

The last week has consisted of practicing going to work using the subway, walking around the area, deciding where to run my usual errands and getting settled into the new place. Tuesday is my first day of work with BUCI and I am so excited to begin this journey. I am a little nervous to be in a new workspace environment, but excited to see the growth that will come of it. I can’t wait for you all to follow along on my journey with me!

It has been awhile since I have updated the blog, but I know this adventure will push me to continue to share my experiences with you all and hopefully encourage you to pursue those dreams that may seem too scary to accomplish. Because truthfully, you can do it and you will one day :)

xoxo,

CG
